What Is the Student-Led AMC 8 Program?
Areteem Foundation’s Student-Led AMC 8 Preparation Program is a free, 8-week online program designed to help middle school students strengthen their problem-solving skills and prepare for the AMC 8. Sessions are led by accomplished student volunteers who enjoy mathematics and want to give back by helping younger students learn, grow, and gain confidence. This program was founded by Dr. Harold Reiter, Professor at University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and is currently directed by Dr. Kevin Wang at Areteem Foundation.
Why Student-Led?
Sometimes the most inspiring teacher is a student who was sitting in your seat just a few years ago. Our volunteer instructors understand the excitement, challenges, and persistence involved in learning competition mathematics. By sharing their experience with younger students, they serve not only as instructors, but also as mentors and role models.

Who Should Join?
This program is designed for middle school students who are interested in mathematical problem solving and the AMC 8. Students do not need to be experienced competition participants—curiosity, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn are what matter most.
Become a Volunteer Instructor
Are you a high school or advanced middle school student who enjoys mathematics and wants to make a difference? Volunteer instructors will have the opportunity to share their knowledge with younger students while developing valuable leadership, communication, and teaching skills.
By teaching, you often discover that you understand mathematics more deeply yourself. At the same time, you can inspire younger students and help make high-quality math enrichment accessible to more families.
